52 Weeks of Happy - 14/52

Joining in with Jen at little birdie, here are my four photos of happiness for the past week.

This flower bed belongs to a neighbor around the corner from me. I shared a photo of it last month in my Walk with me post, where I took you on a tour of my little corner of the world. The top photo is how the flower bed looked that day, in early March. The bottom photo is how it looks now! The pansies have burst into bloom and tulips and daffodils have appeared. This flower bed makes me smile every time I walk or drive past it. I just think it's very pretty and happy.

I bought a second hummingbird feeder for our backyard this week. This one is hung at the back of the yard where we have a pyrancantha hedge running the length of the property. We also have another, which I showed you the other day, hanging from the back porch's roof. We previously had an oriole feeder, like this one, hanging where this new hummingbird feeder is. The oriole feeder attracted no orioles and its flat shape made the nectar dry up very quickly. As a final insult, it fell off the shepherd's crook and the perches broke off. I decided to replace it with another hummingbird feeder because we do get lots of hummingbirds in our yard. I can't wait until they notice that we have two feeders now. I hope they come in droves.

On Friday afternoon, the Bear drew this "mandala" on the back patio for our small Bears to color with their sidewalk chalk. The LB lost interest fairly quickly, opting to zoom around on his new bike instead. But the GB was enthralled, and ended up coloring most of it by herself. I think this is pretty impressive for a four-year-old. She loves to color and draw. I really like having this on the patio too. Fortunately, we get very little rain here so it should stick around for awhile.

On Saturday, the Bear made his non-frozen margaritas for the two of us. I had a reasonable portion in a fancy rocks glass. He had somewhat more, in that black insulated coffee mug on the left, which he calls his "flagon." Well, he holds his liquor a lot better than I do. We sat on the patio watching our small Bears play, chatted and laughed and I had some time to begin re-reading one of my favorite books too. It doesn't get much happier than that.

  3. Your little boy and girl seem so much like mine, my girl would do the colouring and my boy would be out somewhere riding! What a happy week you have had. :) I really wish we had the sun often, your days always remind me of our days when we are on holiday - that is a good thing! :) x

  5. Hi Jennifer,
I've just been catching up on your last few blog posts, what a happy few days you have had!
I loved (loved loved) your crochet journey, the photos are beautiful and the story made me laugh out loud (Flashman thought I was insane sitting in the corner chuckling away!)
I was however utterly blown away by your quilt - the stitching is so unbeliably perfect, every square lines up! (I can never get them to do that!) The colours were lovely, and well balenced too(!)
    Have a fab week!
