In with the new

Happy New Year! I hope 2015 treats you well. My Bears and I are just home from a road trip to Arizona. We left early on the day after Christmas and came home on Wednesday night. We visited the Bear's uncle and aunt in the northwestern part of the state, then continued south to Phoenix. We had a great time - and a treacherous drive home in a snowstorm. I have lots to share.

Yesterday was our first full day back home and we spent part of it clearing out old toys and games to make room for the new ones that Santa brought. We also switched out some of the kids' art on their gallery wall; there were several new masterpieces brought home when school broke up for the holiday vacation. They also played with their new things; they didn't really have a chance to check them out before we left for our trip. I'm so happy to report that the GB loves her rabbit. She has decided to call her Elizabeth. We had a cozy day at home; it was bitterly cold out and there was snow last night. We stayed indoors all day with a fire. I worked on the laundry and baked gingerbread from a mix. The Bear had some terrible Japanese samurai movie from Netflix and we watched it so he can send it back for something else. We plan to take it easy this weekend, putting away the Christmas tree and outdoor lights. I need to buy groceries and maybe we'll shop for new shoes for little people.

Thank you for the comments lately; I appreciate them so much. I'm way behind on reading blogs over the past few weeks, but I'll be back to it soon. I've missed being in this space, with my sparse blogging lately. It's good to be here. I'm looking forward to another year of creativity and connection. I have an idea for a sort of year-long self-improvement project, I'll tell you more soon. And guess what? I went to IKEA again! Oh, yes...

  8. I love road trips, and yours sounds like it was a wonderful time! So glad that GB loves her new rabbit, but really, was there any doubt?! Elizabeth is a perfect name for such a gentle rabbit who wears florals ;) We're having a cold snap, but still only dustings of snow, but winter is still young here. We were also at Ikea buying a new desk for my son (which he's begged for at least two years in a row), and then back there again to get a replacement drawer. His room grew decidedly smaller with this desk. Happy New Year Jennifer! I'm only getting back into blogging a bit more this morning, and have had enough of it for today. I'll be thinking of you dismantling Christmas while I do the same here ;) Enjoy! Wendy x

  9. Glad you enjoyed your trip away and now home safely again. I love being indoors on these dark and cold days, pottering and getting my home straight again after the festivities. I seem forever to be catching up with reading and commenting too but I'm trying not to let it spoil the fun of blogging. It'll get done. Happy New Year to you and yours Jennifer.

  11. Happy New Year to you and yours Jennifer. I am glad you made it home safely despite the snow. I remember Knex fondly from the time Sam was completely mad for all things construction. The little ones are not so keen, yet. I can feel a trip to Ikea coming up soon! To another year of creative blogging my dear friend. x

  17. So glad you had a good trip and especially a safe one home in the snow. We've been having quite a lot of the white stuff in the past week or so. I love all of your pictures Jennifer, but my favorite? GB with her rabbit, Elizabeth. The look on her face is beautiful. Enjoy your quiet family weekend and I look forward to hearing all of your news.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  18. I'm almost ready to get back to "normal", but am enjoying the pottering around, and tidying away that I always try and do at this time of year. It is one of the few times I don't feel I need to go out and "do something"! x

We have one in Portland and I think it's time I visited again. I just *LOVE* how happy your daughter is with her hand-sewn bunny! I love mine a lot. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  31. Happy New Year Jennifer! Elizabeth is the perfect name. I'm so glad your daughter likes her rabbit. I think most of us have been absent from our blogs for at least part of the holidays. It's nice to be getting back into the routine of checking the blogs I read each morning. It was so nice to see your post!

  32. A very Happy New Year to you and yours Jennifer! All our decorations are down and stored once more so the decluttering is now in full swing. Glad to see you are back :-) Take care x

  33. Ahh don't worry about blogging absence, it happens to me all the time - I either have time to blog or interact with my fave bloggers but not always both :-(

I'm looking forward to a good Winter Clean once the Christmas decorations are put away. I definitely feel like it's time for a declutter & to make room for new things too :-)

    Happy 2015! x

  36. Hey Jennifer,
Elizabeth is my favourite girls' name, so I heartily approve. The Knex went down well here too. I've been to Bristol this weekend, but didn't get as far as IKEA. I went to Wilkinson's though.....I have a new yellow tray. Happy New Year to you and your lovely family.

  39. What lovely pictures, but I love best the GB and her rabbit, Elizabeth. Of course she loves it - we all do!! When I was six, I won a walking doll at a fair, almost as tall as myself, and I named her Elizabeth. It is a good name. :)
Excellent that you have been on a holiday, and Happy New Year, Jennifer. xx
