Christmas heart

Hello! I hope you're settling in for a happy holiday with your loved ones. Here at Casa del Osos, we're ready to celebrate. The fridge is stocked and the presents are wrapped. There is a Big Snowstorm predicted for the weekend and we're definitely prepared to hunker. The past few days have been spent doing very little, which is exactly what I needed. I feel refreshed and relaxed and ready for the big day.

We're going to watch Elf in a few minutes. I'm thinking about making some popcorn. I've been crocheting a lot, keeping warm under Hensfoot as it grows. The small Bears are just a little manic about Santa coming in less than 33 hours (as per the latest update), and the Bear has been teaching himself to play this song on the guitar, just for me. It's one of my favorite songs, ever since high school. Now that's a Christmas present.

Thank you for your kind words on my last post. I try to be upbeat here, but sometimes it's important to offer some background. This is a happy place but it's a reflection of regular life too, which isn't picture-perfect. It makes me glad to know that you are thinking of me and my family. I'm so proud of our life together and I love sharing it with you.

A merry Christmas, full of warmth and love, to you from all of us!

  7. It is the time that small ones tend to get antsy! Anticipation is half the fun! I don't know that song but I love that the Bear is learning to play it just for you.:)

  10. It sounds as though you are ready for a good day. The fridge is stocked here too, a little last baking to do this morning, then we're off for a walk this afternoon. Then it'll be time to hang up those stockings. I finished my knitted blanket the other evening and I'm missing sitting under it while I knit. I think I need another blanket to sit under while I knit, if you see what I mean. How nice it will be to have a white Christmas. I hope you all have an absolutely wonderful time. CJ xx

  14. Just read your last post. Christmas was not always full of happy memories for me either. We always want our children to have what we didn't and put too much pressure on ourselves. I am so glad that you have been able to find some time to rest and relax this past week :) Wishing you and yours much peace during the holidays and beyond x

  16. I am getting caught up , so sorry you all have been ill and that darned car accident any time of year is scary. I am already on edge because of the time with family, will one of my kids say something to upset my very sensitive in laws? Will my two SIL's hurt each others feelings at my house? Will I even make it thought t =he day because frankly I am tired? I know it sounds weird but I really just want it to be over so we can get back to real life. I wish you and your family the best. You may make mention of your Christmas's of past not being the best, but you sure make your holidays special for your family now.

  17. Merry Merry Christmas Jennifer!! Just a wee bit envious of the ambiance you all have with that snow and impending snowstorm. I'm feeling like I'm living south of the equator....tomorrow is supposed to be 70 degrees here. (THAT"S NUTS!!!!! It's December!!!! By this time last year we had had two major snowstorms---this year, we had a tornado!)
Hoping the new year finds you all healthy...wishing you much happiness (and craftiness) in the new year, too! Hugs, friend.

  29. Merry Christmas to you and your sweet family, Jennifer. Brian and I just got home from having dinner with two of his sisters, and tomorrow we will go to my sister's house where my mom and cousin will also be. Tim has to work until midnight tonight and tomorrow night, so he won't be home until the 26th - so that's when the three of us will have our own little celebration and open our gifts.

  31. I hope you and your family had a wonderful Christmas, Jennifer and that the expected snowstorm isn't too big. Sadly the song you linked to isn't available to listen to here in the U, but I like to imagine the Bear learning to play it on his guitar.
