Happy New Year! I hope 2016 is a wonderful, productive, peaceful year for all.

The always-inspiring SouleMama is sharing photos of 2015 today, one photo for each month of her year, and I really enjoyed seeing the year distilled that way, so here are a dozen photos from our 2015. Some have been shared here on my blog before. Each one represents in some way the month in which I took it. We had a good year, for the most part. There were difficult times, such as the LB's surgery and recovery, but there were lots of good times too. We learned and grew together. Ours is a house of love.

We've had a calm and quiet holiday season, capped off with a stay-at-home New Year's Eve. Last night, we watched movies, ate party foods and toasted the New Year at 7 in the evening with glasses of Orangina. Later in the evening, the Bear and I saw fireworks up the arroyo without even having to leave our couch in the family room. We were in bed by 10, and up early to take down the Christmas tree and get the house back into order. It's neat and tidy now. I always breathe a little sigh of relief when Christmas has been put away for another year. It's lovely to have the tree up and the house decorated, but it feels good to get back to normal at the New Year. I enjoy January and February very much; they feel like a fresh start and are my favorite stretch of the winter season.

If you've just landed here at Thistlebear, I'd like to say hello and welcome! I hope you'll enjoy your visits. You can also find me on Pinterest and Instagram. I'd love to connect with you there as well. My Winter Project Link Party for January will be live on Sunday; I hope you'll join in!

  8. I love your 2015 memories and remember some of the pictures. My favorite are the little toes peeking out of the afghan. :-). So sweet. Our tree is up for one more week because we have one more party and gift exchange next Thursday. Friday I plan to pack everything away for another year. Happy New Year Jennifer. Thank you for allowing me to be a small part of your life. I wish we lived closer and could meet each other with "skin on" too. Well, maybe someday.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  21. That's a great way to review your year Jennifer. I'm not sure what I think of our 2015 - it's been mixed. I'll be clearing away the tree and decorations on Monday when the children are back at school. I suggested doing it tomorrow and there was a near mutiny! Here's to a fulfilling and contented new year. Sam x

  22. A photo for every month is a lovely way to tie up the old year. The traditions revolving around the putting up and taking down of the Christmas tree are interesting. I don't bring ours inside until a few days before Christmas and it stays lighting and scenting the room until Twelth Night on the 5th January. Then I will bake an apple cake with marzipan balls secreted inside and that will mark the end of our Christmas. A very happy and peaceful new year to you and your family Jennifer.

  26. Love the photos you chose to represent your year...all so beautiful. The January photo - of your son holding his chicken - is one of my faves. Brian and I stayed in for NY Eve, too. Ordered a pizza and binge-watched Broadchurch on Netflix. We made it until 11:30. We packed away all the Christmas stuff and did a lot of deep cleaning this weekend. Got a bunch of errands done, too. Feels so good to start the new year off with a clean, uncluttered house and things being done.
