Merry merry

Two days before Christmas and the fridge is almost too full, the freezer definitely is, and everyone is ready to stay home for a couple of days in between neighborhood walks. Excitement is in the air: there may be a little snow on Christmas Eve. Everywhere I've gone for the last few days, everyone has been talking about it.

Yesterday was a full day of soft, cold rain; during a short break in early evening, we drove around looking at Christmas lights in nearby neighborhoods. It's a yearly tradition. The small Bears sipped hot cocoa in the backseat and we old ones looked forward to something stronger afterward.

Today, the sun shines weakly through lingering clouds and it's cold and still a little damp. I've already been to the store for last-minute groceries and now the afternoon stretches out, movies and egg nog in the offing. I still have gifts to wrap, but it will get done. I should try to finish today, because if it really does snow tomorrow night, I won't be able to stop watching to do anything else.

I wish you and your family the merriest of Christmases!

  1. Merry Christmas to you and your family, Jennifer! Your tulips are gorgeous! I picked up a bunch the other day. I wanted red for Christmas, but Charlotte really wanted the purple ones! Hope you have a nice and cozy weekend with your family.

  6. I remember those days taking the kids to see the Christmas lights. There was one ritzy neighbourhood out in the countryside that people would flock to see. We've had three major snowfalls last week, so if you want some snow ...
You make everything sound warm & cozy there. Merry Christmas to the house of bears!

  7. Our little girlies like to go for the yearly car ride to look at Christmas lights with cocoa to sip, too. The stronger drink for you and the Bear later sounds good, as well :) Thanks for sharing your lives through your wonderful photos and words, Jennifer. I love coming here to visit with you. I have a few more cards to write and we may have a mix of rain and snow tomorrow also, but not enough to make another Snow Girl like I just posted a photo of...still exciting if it comes, though. Merry Christmas! XX

  16. I hope you got just enough snow to enjoy for a little while. Both my boys are glad to be away from the white stuff and the frigid temps for a little while. But it's been overcast since they arrived. I'm hoping blue skies return very soon. Hope you had a very merry Christmas. Have a wonderful rest of the week/year.
