We've had such a nice Saturday otherwise. It's beautiful outside, almost like early summer. The wisteria is still blooming and now the Spanish broom is just starting to blossom. It smells so good outside! I went to the grocery store this morning for my regular shopping as well as things I still needed for Easter. I'm making a spiral-sliced ham, scalloped potatoes, roasted Brussels sprouts and dinner rolls. Dessert is carrot cake, which I baked today. I'll make the cream-cheese frosting tomorrow. So excited for carrot cake!
We had company this morning; our next-door neighbors' grandchildren (eight-year-old boy-girl twins) are visiting from Phoenix for Easter and they came over to play. It was nice to have a houseful of kids. After they left, I went out again, this time to pick up some sandwiches from Jimmy Johns for lunch. This afternoon, we enjoyed our annual tradition of dyeing Easter eggs together. The Bear left the couch for just a few minutes, long enough to dye one of his trademark multicolored eggs. It's the stripey egg in the photo above; he calls it Tequila Sunrise. I think he needs a drink. Ha...maybe in a week or two. I did my eggs the way I like them, very brilliant solid colors achieved by leaving the eggs in the dye cups 4-ever. The small Bears, well, they did a lot of different things. I love the way our eggs look in the carton together, so bright and cheerful. Easter is just my favorite.
I hope you have a wonderful holiday with your family. Love and chocolate to you and yours!
So glad things went well for the Bear, I do hope he has a swift recovery. Love the eggs, they look so pretty all together. Hope you have a lovely day. CJ xx
ReplyDeleteI'm glad the knee surgery went well - I'm not sure I could have watched a DVD of it, though! Yikes! Happy Easter to you and yours. :o)
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter Jennifer. Good to hear all is going well for your husband. Enjoy the weekend with your family x
ReplyDeleteIt is good to hear the Bear is recovering well! He did decorate his eggs splendidly. Love the cheerful colours of your eggs! x
ReplyDeleteGlad all went well on the surgery. My husband tore his meniscus a few years ago, but they decided to let it heal on its own. Troubles him occasionally, but not too bad.
ReplyDeleteWe dyed eggs yesterday, never too old for that.
Happy Easter to you and your family.
I'm so glad to hear the surgery went well. I've been keeping him in my prayers. Not knowing his name, I prayed for Jennifer's husband! I enjoyed hearing about your Easter. It's very quiet here-church in the morning then we had lunch with some friends. Their children are all grown and gone too, so it's nice to be able to get together and not be alone for the holidays. Your eggs are colorful and beautiful. I like the looks of concentration on everyone's faces as they work on dying them just the way they want them!
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Betsy
Your eggs are so pretty, and the Bear is an artist! Glad he is doing ok.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear his knee surgery went well. I had it on my left knee in 8th grade. Unfortunately, have continued to have knee problems so am very careful what I do, how I twist and turn. A knee popping out of place is no fun at all and it has happened to me too many times to count. Ouch! The eggs are lovely and colorful. No Easter happenings around here with boy my boys away at college. I did dye a few eggs with turmeric and quickly crocheted Jingles some bunny ears which she was not amused by. Ha! Hope you have a lovely week.
ReplyDeletewishing Bear a good recovery, and you all a happy Easter, those eggs are so pretty x
ReplyDeleteHope you had a relaxing day. It all looks like great fun. I am cooking a family lunch today for 12!!! Not so relaxing but I have gone for salmon in a tray with all the veg so it is all in the oven in one go. Jo xxx

ReplyDeleteWishing your husband a speedy recovery from his knee surgery. The eggs look so pretty, decorated like that :)
ReplyDeleteAll your eggs are very cheerful and bright. I hope the Bear continues to make good progress following his surgery.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you had a nice Easter and that your husband's surgery went well. I hope he does better with recovery than I did. I'm 7 weeks in and still having complications (swelling).Prescription anti-inflammatory isn't helping one bit. Not sure what the next step is - have to call the dr again.
ReplyDeleteGood to hear Bear's recovering is going smoothly.
ReplyDeleteI don;t know if I could have watched a surgery video.
Your eggs turned out beautiful.. wonderful colors.
Lovely eggs, and I am so glad the surgery went well. We had a happy time together on Easter, too...I posted a couple of egg hunting photos, but not of the girls' egg coloring which they enjoy as well. :)
