That Friday Feeling

Do you have it? I hope you do. We had a good week, especially now that the major school projects are all behind us. Only two more weeks until spring break - we really need it. Easter is just around the corner, which is exciting. I love Easter. After Easter is over, there will be about eight more weeks of school and all of a sudden, it will be summer. In the meantime, there's lots of new growth outdoors and the weather has been lovely this week. Everything is starting to bloom. I only took a few photos this week, but you can see it - there are buds on the olive tree, the plum blossoms are slowly but surely opening, and the bulb plants are getting going too.

Things I'm doing right now, in early March:

Listening: to the GB learn to play "Sunshine of Your Love" on the guitar

Wearing: a black floral blouse, jeans, pink tennis shoes (because I have to go out later)

Cooking: Nigella's Pasta Risotto with Peas and Pancetta for dinner tonight

Watching: Girls Incarcerated and Ugly Delicious, both on Netflix, and Taxi, on DVD

Reading: Pandemic: Tracking Contagions, From Cholera to Ebola and Beyond, which I know sounds really heavy and in no way uplifting, but it's very interesting. The Bear is currently listening to the audiobook during his commute; I don't have as much time for audiobooks, so I'm reading along and we're having a book group. Well, a book...pair

Making: six-round granny hexagons for a new blanket; I've just taught myself how to make a half-hexagon! That much closer to my crochet merit badge...

Smelling: my beautiful hyacinth; onion bits in the trash that need to go

Buying: short-sleeved t-shirts for my children; coloring-book greeting cards; face wash

Needing: to save more egg cartons now that the hens are in crazy laying mode

Wondering: if I can get away with the old Easter basket grass for one more year

Hope you have a great weekend! Enjoy whatever you're doing.

  2. It's lovely to see blue skies and things springing into life. We woke to snow again yesterday but it disappeared just as quickly as it had arrived. I'm not that big on Easter but I'm really looking forward to it this year as my house will be full, Daniel and his girlfriend and Eleanor will all be here, I can't wait.

  8. What a fun post today Jennifer! I enjoyed reading about what you’re up to these days and your pictures are so springlike. It was actually 47 here today. I sure hope that means spring is on the way. I hope you have a lovely weekend with your family.

  9. A lovely catch up. Friday flew by here and ended with a very rainy trip to watch rugby. It was a tiring week and I'm a bit bleary-eyed now. Busy weekend ahead though so I need to pull my act together. Hope you have a good couple of days and that you enjoyed your outing, your blouse and tennis shoes sound lovely. CJ xx

  12. We had a nice burst of Spring about two weeks ago, but it's cold again and we had snow this morning. I keep covering up my potted tulips at night so they don't freeze. I planted parrot tulips this year and can't wait to see them bloom. Your black floral blouse sounds pretty. I bought a black floral blouse from Old Navy and one from Boden that I just love!

  13. I thought we had spring but it's turned chilly again and I heard on the radio this morning that there may be more snow at the weekend. Sigh. I'm fed up with winter now and would love some warm spring sunshine! Love your positive, happy list, Jennifer. I hope you had a lovely weekend. Sam x

  15. Still no blooms here! Everything is still bare. Even got some more snow today. Just enough to dust the ground again. I had to give my hyacinth to my mom - it was too fragrant for me. Made my house smell like a funeral home! lol

  16. Friday feeling is the best. Nothing else beats it, except for maybe waking up on a Saturday morning. It looks like spring is really arriving where you are and your photos are beautiful. x

  18. You are bringing that Friday feeling right back - on a Monday. Lovely post. You might also enjoy "Spillover" by David Quammen. This book discusses zoonotic infectious disease, ie diseases that originate in animals and have an animal reservoir. I wish I could say I am buying short sleeved tops - if anything, I probably need to get more thermal underwear, it is freezing (but beautifully sunny). Have a good Jennifer. xx

  19. Well, as I'm reading this post late, I definitely don't have that Friday feeling in the middle of the week -- but I'm looking forward to it this week LOL! It looks like you're keeping good and busy -- and now you've got me excited for spring too -- so much to look forward to! And your last comment made me laugh -- oh, how many years have I sneaked that old grass in???
